How To Use A Medical Balance Scale

Medical balance scales are essential precision tools for hospitals, labs and pharmacies. Correct weighing ensures accurate results and safe use of medicines and reagents. This guide shows you simple, standard weighing steps.

Prepare the Balance Scale

Place the balance on a flat, stable table. Keep it away from wind, vibration and direct sunlight. Check the balance body. Make sure it is clean and parts are complete. Adjust the level bubble to the center by turning the feet.

Zero the Balance

Turn on the balance and wait for self-check. Press the ZERO/Tare button. Wait for the display to show 0.0000g or your required unit. Do not start weighing before zeroing.

Prepare Weighing Objects

Use clean weighing paper, weighing boat or container. Do not put chemicals directly on the pan. Prepare tools like spatulas for sample handling. Keep samples dry and at room temperature.

Start Weighing

Gently place the container or sample on the center of the weighing pan. Close the glass door if the balance has one. Wait for the reading to stabilize. Record the exact number shown on the display.

Tare Function (Optional)

If using a container, press TARE after placing the empty container. The display returns to zero. Add your sample. The reading shows only the sample weight.

Finish and Clean

Take the sample and container away carefully. Turn off the balance. Clean the pan and inside of the balance. Cover the balance with a dust cover. Store it in a dry environment.
